In September 2022, twelve (12) Self Help Groups were formed in Wukari and Ibi LGAs of Taraba State. The groups were made up of Women/Girls who have some means of generating income to contribute in the Self Help Groups. Members are given three (3) times whatever they have saved as loan, which they paid back with interest after three months of utilizing the money. These groups were formed under The Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Project in Taraba State, implemented by Scripture Union West Africa (SUWA). On November 6th 2023, the team started the Share-out process with the groups in Ibi LGA. Total sum of N2.4M was shared in Ibi while the groups in Wukari shared out a total sum of N 2.5M. The share out process was very successful as all the groups generated some interest on their savings through the loans members collected. All the groups were happy and grateful to SUWA for the opportunity to learn how to save their little profits which has empowered them financially.Most of the women shared their success stories with the team.
